Great views from balcony - small residence so not alot of rooms - breakfast was wonderfull

Alcione was extremely comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to please. Fernanda booked a ferry to Sicily for us when we had difficulty with the booking. She also booked excursions and arranged for drivers to take us to different locations in comfortable air conditioned cars - beats taking the crowded bus when the temperature is around 35 degrees! Breakfast was amazing. Luisa greeted us each morning with a lovely smile wgen she brought breakfast to our room. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day.Location is great and the views spectacular. We hope to visit again. Marylynn Connelley & Jock McLean, Tasmania, Australia

    Very good

I had never been to Positano before, so did not understand fully that everything is either up the road or down the road - because the village is built into the side of a mountain. That said, the location of the Alcione Residence is quite good in that it is a relatively easy walk, along a gently sloping road, to and from the village square and beach, whereas some hotels had many many steps to be negotiated each way. I also liked that the apartment was tiled and clean and the air con worked well. The size of the apartment - bedroom and sitting area was also quite big which was nice. The patio is also a nice size with two chairs a table and two loungers with an awning that can be opened up to give shade in summer. The bus stop to catch the local bus to other places along the Amalfi coast is also about 3 mins walk up the road, with the Tabaci shop to buy bus tickets just before the stop, so very convenient.

If you can possibly afford the top floor apartments, which have their own kitchen complete with washing machine, this is a must. We were on the first floor and walking out on to the patio to see the "view" was such a disappointment I could've cried as the "view" was of a car port, complete with cars, with a bit of sea in the background. You also do not have any facilities at all in the 1st first, and I believe, 2nd floor apartments to even make a cup of coffee or a sandwich. The much advertised breakfast, which is delivered to your apartment at the time marked on the 'menu' consists of - coffee/tea, orange juice, cereal, rolls, cake, butter and jam. If you want things like fruit, yoghurt, cheese, ham those are all at an extra cost between 3 & 5 euros, which we though expensive. There is no lift.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the young lady who brought the breakfast. A huge thank you to Alcione Residence for a lovely and memorable stay! We will never forget the amazing view from our room! If we ever return to Positano, and I'm sure that we will, Alcione Residence will be our first choice again.

    Superb

Alcione Residence is a wonderful b&B. I highly recommend it. Our room was all that we asked for and more. Very spacious, beautiful tiles, tastfully decorated, and had a built in kitchen. The views were absolutely breathtaking. The staff were all very helpful and accomodating and spoke very good English. The b&b is a short walk from the Sita bus stop which is very convenient especially when traveling with luggage. The breakfasts were delicious and filling...and extra special since they are delivered directly to your room where you can eat out on the balcony enjoying the gorgeous views.

The only downfall was the uncomfortable mattress.

    Superb

It is in a great location (once youaje the long uphill hike from the ferry). If you ate coming by Sita bus it is much easier to access. The viewis great and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The bed was the disappointing part as one side was much different from the other side. Also there is no English tv as advertised, but we weren't there to watch tv. Breakfast was served on your balcony in the morning and it was filling, but there were no protein choices, which is fairly standard.

We loved everything about our stay at Alcione Residence. Our large patio with an amazing view. The service was friendly and very prompt. Continental breakfast served every morning at your selected time on our patio. The staff was very helpful with whatever we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

The only thing we didn't like was the very firm beds, but most places we've seen or been to in Italy all had very firm beds. And they're twin bed beds put together.

    Superb

Very nice room with a great view of the sea. It is a residence apartment so we had a fridge, stove etc. Very nice family run business and in a great location . No parking so you had to park down town at a garage and walk to it everytime you wanted to get your car. Parking was 20 Euro's a day but the garage staff was very efficient in getting your car to you. This hotel is in a very central but very busy location, Just down the street is a positano bus that is very handy. Lots of resterarunts just 10 minute walk through some beaurtiful stone walkways. Lots of steps up and down to the beach.

The people who run it are in a shop next door. there is no one in a lobby and there is no lobby. No english speaking tv except for BBC. It was never working and they said it was probably just the signal, but did nothing to come and see if there was a problem. I suspect they don't subscribe but it is on the tv as a channel but just presents a blank screen. The signal issue was just a way to not deal with the problem. We were paying 300 a night and then we overhear one of the owners negotiating for about 150 for a couple who just came in off the street. Sort of irritated us.

I would like to say it was the best stay ever!! Really really kind and clean and comfort !! Indeed, it was literally the best view of positano from our balcony! The balcony was huge and gorgeouse garden like. Also, the manager up graded our room to suit room which was the best room. All for this for just surprise! we barely even got out of the room. Even cooking own meals and dining at the big terrace table with wine with most romantic view. Breakfast is served to your own room, you can also choose the time and style, very fresh and delicious. Ah, the location was just perfect as well as you want to hang out town. I hope we can go there again. It was most remarkable holiday in my life. Especially for a Beautiful perfect honeymoon spot!

    Superb

This was a residence which implies furnished apartment-like features. Comfortable bed, good air conditioning, clean, modern bathroom, huge patio with a great view, kitchen had all we needed to prepare full meals, very little street noise, and breakfast with delicious fresh croissants delivered to our room. A very efficient staff especially one young lady who spoke great English and Spanish, who led us to our room; explained all features of the room. Conveniently located with a short hike down to the waterfront where great restaurants and shops are located. Keep in mind that Positano is a "walking town" in that it only has 2 streets that run parallel to the coast. Going up is a chore, but the shops and charm of this rustic town make it worth the walk.

The price! We stayed there at the end of September paying 220 euro for one night! We had the 2nd largest room, but still expensive. The price was comparable to other mid-range-priced establishments. Parking was about a kilometer away and was about 20 euro per day. Didn't like giving away my car key to my nice car, but that's how it's done there. No damage to my car. Local restaurant prices were also steep, around 25 euro per person without drinks (expensive for Italy). So would we stay again, yes on special occasions.

The view was spectacular. It is convenient to anywhere in Positano. Breakfast is generous with additional options for a modest amount. This is more like a small luxury hotel than a B&B. The rooms are private and breakfast is in your room or on the balcony. The Jacuzzi and the small private kitchen were delights. It would be great for an extended stay as well.
